NA Perfume Description
I'm walking the streets of Cairo and as I turn the corner I inhale a scent of Vanilla and Spice, wonderous Golden Clove and a fruit exhilaration that turns my head. What is that, I ask myself? I walk closer to the bakery, the usual suspects of Malban, Bassima, some Raspberry tarts, Caramel sugared treats, and the only exotic fruit I see is on a pastry. I ask what it is and when they tell me the smell and the name becomes recognized. Ah sweet intoxicating fruit. I ask for one and I grab a Bassima while I'm there. I immediately pull the pastry out from the bag. It is warm and buttery and the scent of spiced fruit tingles within my mouth. I am salivating at this point. I bite into it. Ah sweet bliss of all things. I look to the sky and thank the Ancients for such a treat.
Amidst my devouring the pastry chef tells me it is an old recipe that the ancient Egyptian civilization would bake at the souk markets and trade for silks and sometimes exotic spices from far off lands. It is said a spice collector named Zahr created the dessert and many a Royalty often asked for it by name if not asked for him personally to bake it for them. I nod my head at him I would give away exotic silks for such a moment of sweet bliss. I am a happy boy and I can imagine a Pharaoh and a Queen savouring such a treat.
I tuck my bag that holds bassima away in my shoulder bag and I walk on knowing the day is even better than it was before and Cairo is set out before me a city of so much history and depth that I feel I am only one word in a library of stories to read upon.
