When I think of snow I think of haunting moments sitting by the window watching the elegant flakes come down outside. I remember feeling the cold from the window touching me as I faced the window and from within the room the warmth of the fire crackling in the fireplace.
This is a scent full of many moments I have gone back to again and again when it has been raining in the city or the fog has covered the sun so much it seems day is night.
When I thought of snow I immediately asked both Jacek and Emerson what one note they could bring to the blend. Jacek brought me his blend called Grave Musk and it consists of a skin musk that is reminiscent of snow and soil, which is something I can relate to as they go very much together. I knew it was necessary for this blend. Emerson brought me the Nokturne3: Egyptian Musk which is a musk that has a slight vibrancy to it all while remaining calm like snowflakes falling slowly.
Together these musk notes would be the base of the Snow Bastet. I searched through all the floral notes we had and opted for Lily of the Valley because to me it brings a floral without being a floral to the blend. It is soft and sensual and fitting for Snow Bastet. I also wanted to incorporate the Egyptian Muguet de Bois into the French Lily of the Valley to make the scent have a double meaning and retain the softness of those two notes. I also wanted to have a little sweetness to the snow.
I remember RA talking about his parents putting big silver bowls out when it snowed when they lived in Germany and collecting the snow, adding sweet cream and sugar to it and refreezing it as cream snow. Sandalwood infused with Vanilla was the next step toward what I wanted to make. Then I wanted a little redwood to be infused with a quiet Vanilla bean and let them sit in the perfume for a few months.
I hope you enjoy this reflecting scent as in the fantasy of the mind of a feline Goddess it always snows even in the warmest of Egyptian deserts. With the assistance of RA and Jacek, may the Snow Bastet hug you tightly and bring a peace to your being.
