NA Perfume Description
The Pharaoh had just returned from his journey to Persia where he met a perfume dealer that gave him three gold vials of perfume. He told the Pharaoh,
"Do not blend these until you have understood their meanings individually and not a moment before."
"Curious merchant, why should I wait for anything and if I do wait, how will I know when is the right moment?" The Pharaoh asked.
"You will know my King." He said, turned and packed up his things into the sacks on either side of his camel.
The Pharaoh got back upon his chariot and put the three vials in a silk purse given to him from the King of Assyria and then lifted the reigns and whipped the horses steadfast back to his Kingdom and more importantly his Queen and their continued efforts for a Prince.
Upon entering the Kingdom the Pharaoh forgot about the vials and went about his duties as King of Upper Egypt when a message came that there was an invasion near Aswan and all Kingdoms were to be risen and fight against any enemy threat.
In the meeting chamber, the Pharaoh called upon one of his guards to bring his bags from his room in which maps had been stored from his previous trip to Persia.
As the Pharaoh reached into his bag his fingers found the silken bag with the three golden vials and pulled them forth. It took him a moment to find the meaning of why they were there and then he remembered the random perfume merchant. What was it he said? "Do not blend these until you have understood their meanings individually and not a moment before."
The Pharaoh twisted off one of the corks from the first bottle. A scent of cacao emerged. Then the second bottle of chocolate and then the third, a scent he had never smelled before.
"Guard, bring me my annointing Priest".
Moments later the Annointing Priest came forth and the Pharaoh sat looking at the golden vials and perplexed at what they meant.
"Here, smell these. That is cacao, I know that scent. The second is chocolate made from the cacao bean and this third I do not understand it Priest. It smells exotic and yet not something my Queen has ever worn. Do you know of it?" The Pharaoh asked.
"My Lord," the Priest hesitated, "I do not."
The Priest waited and finally was sent away.
"Guard, send for the Queen." The Pharaoh said.
Moments went by as the Pharaoh inhaled the last vial and fell into the rapture of its deeper scent of patchouli, dragon's blood, sandalwood and amber resins...but still in this combination he could not place what it meant.
"You called for me my Pharoah," the Queen asked entering the chamber.
"My Love, come smell these perfumes and tell me what they mean."
She walked toward him and lifted each vial as the silk of her sleeve fell back exposing her beautifully tanned arm. She applied a drop to the top of her left hand with one oil and then on the other hand with the other. "Chocolate, one of my favourite delights. And this is Cacao, the origins of chocolate" She said inhaling the rich aroma.
"You are wise my Queen, but what of the third vial?" He handed it to her.
The Queen opened it and closed her eyes to the sensuality of its blend...
"It is beautiful my Pharaoh. It is of exotic Sandalwood, of Patchouli from far off lands, of an exquisite Amber and rich Dragon's blood Resin but I have never smelled this combination and also the scent of chocolate and cacao together like this."
"They are for you my Love."
He stood and took the Queens hand in his and they walked back together to his sleeping chamber where the scent of the three vials moved effortlessly with the syncopation of body and warmth until he finally understood during the conceiving of their Prince, that the Perfume Merchant knew exactly what he was doing and in giving the gift of blending the three vials, he gave the land of Egypt an heir to the throne.
