I used to walk the streets of Bourbon, Canal and Ponchartrain boulevard of New Oleans. I was always led to a cemetary where graves and bodies slept above ground. The walls of brick would keep the others out and past the wrought iron gates of its opening, the stagnant air of jasmine comes alive as the sun falls away and the balmy air of summer evening lifts the scent of fresh soil. The cedar trees nearby breathe into the house of the dead. Those that came before sleep while the city of New Orleans moves forward through time but here nothing changes except the dreams in which the dead dream.
