NA Perfume Description
From the Journal of Colin Endicott:
On the night of October 31st I opened the tomb of KV13 without the approval of the Government. I was relentless to ascertain a written approval from that dreaded Kheyle Ashtun. He walks into his office in his smarmy suit expecting the English to bow down to his inadequate excuse for submission. I think not. I can easily reseal the tomb… after I have a look with my own eyes at the contents of KV13.
“I have opened the tomb.” Amir yelled to me from the blazes of his torch. The fire from the tip casting tiny glass fragments above the doorway of the tomb into the night sky.
“What do you see?” I asked.
“I see treasures of gold. Strangely, my Lord, I smell spices and something else.”
“Here, let me.” I took the torch and entered the small room. I lifted the torch and I soon began to smell it just as he. But it could not be. How could coffee survive thousands of years? This was to be a burial chamber. Maybe this was a storage room? No. Just ahead of me the sarcophagus loomed in shining gold as the fire cast sparks of light all about me in the reflection. Around the great coffin canopic jars and a big alabaster vase stood. It seemed the scent was stronger the closer I came to the vase. Peering overhead and into the vase I saw what looked to be tiny scarabs.
“Amir, look inside. What is it?”
He reached inside the vase with his bare hands and grabbed a handful.
“They are coffee beans my Lord.” Before we could acknowledge how odd that was to understand, let alone say out loud, a shuffle at the edge of the tomb outside came and stirred the two of us that should not have come.
“It’s nothing my Lord.” Amir had walked to the tomb’s entrance and looked about. Returning with a smile and then a state of shock as we both looked to a noise that came from within the tomb.
